Interlibrary Loans
As of 5/18 ILL and Courier Services are available. Interlibrary Loan is a service where a patron of one library can borrow books, DVDs, music, etc. and/or receive photocopies of documents that are owned by another library. If you are looking for a specific item that WPU Library or Summit does not have, you can search through WorldCat to request the item at the closest library. Requested materials can take up to two weeks to arrive, as materials may be coming from out-of-state libraries. Your campus email will notify you when your requested item is available for pick up at the Front Desk of the WPU Library. This service is free to WPU patrons.
Document Delivery
If you need access to a journal article, but WPU Library does not own the full text version, you can request the article through ILL document delivery service. This service is available for WPU faculty, staff, and students. The library will request a digitized copy of the requested journal article(s) to be sent to you via email.
Summit Loans
The Summit Loan system is a feature of the Orbis Cascade Alliance, a consortium of 39 college and university libraries in the Pacific Northwest, that owns over 30 million items. WPU Library is an Alliance member library and the WPU community has access to all 30 million items.
WPU students can check out research materials, as well as popular movies and books. Requested materials generally arrives within five business days.
How to Submit a Summit Request
If an item is unavailable at WPU Library, it may be available through Summit Loans. Summit libraries lend print materials and some audio/visual materials to each other.
- Search for items in the Library Catalog.
- Once you are ready to request an item, sign into My Account.
- Select the “Place Summit request (about 5 days)” link.
- Then complete a brief request form.
If the item is not available at WPU Library or through Summit, submit an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) request. Interlibrary Loan requests of articles and book chapters generally arrive within two days. Books and other returnable material arrive typically within ten days.
