Hi, my name is Haslin Vargas. I was born in San Pedro California. My family is Mexican, and they decided to move to Mexico again when I was 3 years old. I lived in Mexico almost all my life and when I was 16 years old, I decided to come and live in the United States again. My sister and I decided to come to try to discover new lands that we had never seen before. We were both born in the United States. It was an easy thing to come and stay here. But the transition was not easy. We didn’t know any English or anything like that. At 19 I graduated from high school and learned the language. After high school I got pregnant and right now my baby is going to be 3 years old. I am currently at Warner Pacific University doing my nursing degree. Being a single mother and working in the library has been quite a challenge but everything has its reward in the future. WPU has opened the doors for me to be a better person day by day. And thanks to that I can continue with my dreams and be able to help other people who need it. And be able to create a better future for my next generation.
